“I am super-excited about this new adventure, and I am grateful to have had the opportunity to remain in Venice at a hotel like Hyatt Centric Murano Venice, which is rich in history and charm,” said Executive Chef Alessandro Cocco who, from today onward, will be the face and soul of the new culinary offering at the Venetian Hyatt property.
Originally from the Abruzzo region, Alessandro Cocco is a young 34-year-old chef whose enviable curriculum vitae seems not to correspond with his age in terms of the quantity and quality of experiences collected so far. “I started my journey at some of the most renowned restaurants in Rome, where I had the unique opportunity to meet the person that today I consider my mentor, Chef Omar Agostini, one of the few Italians who belongs to the Ducasse tradition. I worked alongside him at the five-star hotel Sofitel Roma Villa Borghese for two years before deciding to leave for a new experience. Thanks to Omar Agostini I landed in France at the 1 Michelin starred Bistrot Benoit by Alain Ducasse in Paris where I honed my skills. My French career continued at 1 Michelin starred Hostellerie de l’Abbaye de la Celle in the Provence area under the guidance of Chef Cristophe Martin, a pupil of Franck Cerutti. After these notable experiences I returned to Italy at the 1 Michel starred Trattoria Toscana by Alain Ducasse while collaborating with Chef Fabio Abbattista for the opening of the Abereta Relais & Chateau; the restaurant managed by Maestro Gualtiero Marchesi whose name speaks for itself” Alessandro followed his need to learn new techniques and moved to Social by Heinz Beck at Waldorf Astoria Palm in Dubai. From 2017 until 2019 he was appointed as Executive Chef Corporate for the opening of Tartufi & Friends restaurants in London, Milan and Frankfurt by Sermoneta Luxury Food. The following year, he relocated to take up a role at 1 Michelin starred restaurant by Chef Antonello Colonna and Gianluca Graziani’s Hotel d’Inghilterra in Rome before leading the kitchen of the five-star Hotel Metropole in Venice.
All in all, a remarkable and eclectic voyage through the art of food that allowed Chef Alessandro Cocco to develop his own gastronomic vision: a mix of French techniques as well as a passion and knowledge for quality local produce.
His official debut will occur on the occasion of the Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve events at Hyatt Centric Murano Venice. Are you curious to discover Alessandro’s menus? Click below:
